What Happens When a Domestic Violence Injunction is Violated?

The courts will not take a domestic violence injunction violation lightly.

If one violates a domestic violence injunction, he or she may face serious consequences including criminal prosecution in the form of a jail sentence, community service, probation, monetary fines, and any other appropriate sanctions the Judge deems appropriate. These penalties may still apply even if the person whom the protective order is protecting does not wish to press charges against you.

Thus, if a domestic violence injunction has been entered against you, it is very important that you adhere to the terms and conditions of the Judge’s ruling.
